It's Getting to Be That Time of the Year...

When it's time for out with the old, in with the new. Which means in essence that over the next week or so I will be cleaning out my "blogs I follow list" for the new year. Fear not, if you've been blogging steadily for the past 6 months, I will not be deleting your blog from my list. I know, life gets in the way, things happen. But I'm really going to try to make a concentrated effort to follow, read, and reply to blogs I SAID I'd follow. Otherwise, it's just lip service when I say "I'm following you!" and really does the blogger no good to get no feedback from people who are following them. Trust me, I'd rather you dumped me for non participation in my own blog than stick around waiting for me to tap tap tap something, anything on the keys.

So if you know I've been following you and all of a sudden you don't see me on your list of million minions, don't take it personally. I just got to, you know? And if you plan on doing better on your blog in 2011, just drop me a comment on this post and I"ll re-follow you, just as long as I don't just see crickets for the next six months every time I check my dashboard, your blog is safe.

Well after the hustle and bustle of yesterday (who am I kidding, I was a couch potato all day) it's time to get back to Zibbet business. Today is the day you spend with family and friends and share in the holiday cheer! We woke up this morning (kinda late!) and my daughter, husband and I opened our gifts before my daughter had to jet off to her bio dads house across town to celebrate the holidays. It was a nice morning of laughter and excitement. It's nice to see that even at 20, 43 and 45 we all still enjoy ripping open a wrapped package.

I'm keeping this one short. I've tamales to steam and beef ribs to cook, macaroni salad to mix and green beans to prepare. Have a great day with your family, and remember and pray for those who don't have anyone this holiday season. And keep those who keep us safe, our troops, close to your heart.

And no matter your preference, you know the sentiment is meant with love and affection: MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Fabulous Finds

Since joining Zibbet, I have to admit that I have not spent a lot of time window shopping there. I've been so busy trying to establish my shop there, get my blog straight here, make sure my items listed EVERYWHERE are straight that I have not stopped to check out all of the cool items that people are creating at this relatively new selling venue. LOC Design's Studio Started a forum post in the Zibbet Community called Fun Finds, which I think is a great idea, so I'm going to incorporate it into my blog. But you know me. I'm going to call it my Fabulous Finds. This is my first Zibbet Fabulous Find.


This is a handmade, upcycled hat by a shop owner called delightworthyn. There are a lot of things in this shop that are vintage inspired or "Neo Vicorian" as the shop refers the pieces as, and just a lot of downright coolness. I usually dress conservatively (in the artists "uniform" of black black black!), but adding a splash of FIERCE such as this topper (or any of her pieces, frankly) would make my day. Go take a look. You might find cool pair of strawberry earrings made from a vintage applique, a lacy messenger pouch, or a fire engine red poppy brooch. But keep your hands off the hat. I plan on stalking it for a while.

Still Some Paper Crafting Going On

Well I had someone catch me in chat on Etsy (I still love talking to a lot of my chat friends there) and ask me to do a get well card for her to send directly to someone that means a lot to her. I told her of course, but of course, I had no design at all in mind. I originally was gonna do something along the lines that tied in with how and why the person needed a get well card. That idea pretty much turned into a campy mess from hell, and I REALLY hate campy. I like timeless, vintage style, sophisticated. This is what I came up with.

Since I gave kudos in my blog about another wonderful artist. Her name is laurastamperdesigns and she makes some of the most unique, whimsical jewelry I have ever seen. I really like the way she looks at her materials and creates such wonderful pieces. She's been on Etsy a while, but just started listing her wonderful art. I think she's going to do well.

The One Hundred

I accomplished a feat today on Zibbet that I have never been able to do on Etsy in the almost 4 years I have had a shop there, and that is list 100 items. I know it does not seem like much to some, but to me, it's a big deal. I never did get to list that many items on Etsy because, well, it just cost too damn much to do so. $20 may not sound like a lot, but it's a quarter of a tank of gas when you've got no job.

Anyhow, in celebration of my 100th item, I am giving away a pair of earrings with the 100th item, which are these cute green glass pearl earrings. You basically get two pair for the price of one while supplies last. I will get the choice of the free earrings, but I promise you it won't be some ugly pair of plastic bat wing earrings that I knew I'd never sell. Anyway, thanks for looking and thanks for reading.

He gets better and better with each one

I really love my husband's leather cuff work, and he's getting better and better and more confident in what he creates. I try to wear one every time we go out,and the questions for custom orders and business cards is beginning. I love making my jewelry but I think I'll just dedicate my blog to my husband's work for a while so that he can soar. I'm proud of you , baby.

Today, I feel like a Goddess

You would think that after having next to no sleep that I'd be dragging today. Not true. I was wide awake and perky at 6:30am (ok, wide awake, yes, perky, that's pushing it) and ready to hit the day. That's what usually happens when I've got an upcoming event, and I've got a Jewelry show to prepare for. I've only had one home show, but I really do like having them for their intimacy and lack of craziness. Craft fairs are fine, but people tend to forget they are at a craft fair and not a swap meet. I know I know some say you should haggle but in some cases, it's just in bad taste, in my opinion.

I had to call the vet this morning to get all of my critters (5 cats, 2 dogs) flea meds as well as something special for Miss Franchesca's "butt worms" yack. I have to admit, last night was the first night in many many nights I did not allow her to sleep on me. Poor baby. She misses her mama. I know I'll get past it, but not until the meds are dispensed. Period.

Well, back to inventorying all of my jewelry, I think I'll actually get all of that finished and have time to perhaps add to the collection.

I think my husband found his place

My husband has been making leather cuffs for the last couple of weeks, and he's really getting good at what he does. We sometimes discuss how certain things would look cool, then he gets up and goes out to his workstation and creates a great looking piece of art. I love wearing his pieces, and I try to have one on every day. I think I am more of a walking advertisement for his items than I am my own. But that's ok, whatever sells, be it his creations or mine, I'm glad we are both being inspired and encouraged by each other. This particular cuff, called Edge, is on sale this week in my Zibbet shop.
